    What. One day!

University football has once again blessed us with tons of reasons to watch Saturday, and although the slugfests of the 10th week are not always what we were hoping to be (looking at you, Michigan-Penn State and Georgia-Kentucky) , others have made up for it.

West Virginia's last-minute victory over Texas was magnificent, and the state of Ohio found its assault in a survival match against Nebraska. Florida also had a lot to deal with a home defeat against Missouri that left many questions.

All this, and it was even before Notre Dame-Northwestern and the most important of them: Alabama-LSU at Tiger Stadium.

The Fighting Irish-Wildcats competition did not disappoint, Notre Dame avoided a fourth quarter rally to defeat coach Pat Fitzgerald 31-21. And Alabama continued to do things in Alabama in an unhinged victory at Death Valley to keep his slate immaculate.

Oklahoma-Texas Tech was a hot source of fun, and Washington State played late to try to keep up its momentum. It was Saturday as a pronation match and there was a ton of fun action. Let's take a look at the winners and losers of Week 10, with updates at the end of the games.

If you want to know what was the dominant position of Alabama in the recent "rivalry" with LSU, take this ESPN tweet. Ivan Maisel in consideration: "A slight problem with the return attempt of @LSUfootball." The Tigers scored for the last time a TD against @AlabamaFTBL i

Nick Saban did not smile a lot, he had to think maybe he was smiling at least … inside.

When Burrow struggled to launch, LSU had nowhere to go. The Tigers were even worse when they tried to run with the ball, accumulating 12 yards on the ground.

The atmosphere at Baton Rouge was electrifying and Tigers coach Ed Orgeron was so excited before the game that you could not understand what he was saying to the CBS team until he barked, "Go Tigers!" Unfortunately for LSU, his offensive struggles keep him in the same class as Alabama.

The match has been touted for much of the past two weeks, but Alabama's business trip has ensured that it would be the tide against Georgia in the SEC championship game.

Listen, we knew it was going to happen.

It was just a matter of ridicule. The offensive in Lubbock, Texas, in the Oklahoma vs. Texas Tech duel was so delusional that it deserves a new word. Let's just say things have "Bigtwelvy" in the Sooners' 51-46 win against the Red Raiders.

There was no semblance of defense. It was like they had hooked up "anti-glare" signs to the defensive coordinators.

    You had the idea.

The Red Raiders and Sooners combined for 97 points, 1,156 yards and only 23 combined attempts in the third run. When Texas Tech quarterback Alan Bowman did not come back in the second half for an undisclosed reason, Jett Duffey came in and made two touchdowns to keep the Red Raiders in the lineup.

Thanks to two early interceptions launched by Kyler Murray, Heisman Trophy candidate, TTU quickly took the lead in converting these turnovers into 14 points. But the Sooners quickly went back and they never let go, doing everything they wanted in offense.

Murray rebounded, of course, finishing the game with 460 yards and four touchdowns. The Sooners also dominated the field, led by sophomore Trey Sermon, who played a career game with 206 yards and three touchdowns. It was a back-and-forth battle and it only remained to know who had the ball last.

In the fourth quarter, TTU scored 42-40 and scored two points tied. Coach Kliff Kingsbury called a double reverse pass (his second of the game). Robert Barnes grabbed the interception and gave him 100 yards for two Sooners points for a 44-40 pass.

After that, OU scored another touchdown and pushed Texas Tech back to keep his playoff hopes alive.

The trajectory of Notre Dame's season changed when the Fighting Irish decided that Ian Book would be the quarterback of September 22nd.

The college football game seems to be beckoning, and although the Irish do not dominate, they win.

They did the same on Saturday night in Evanston, Ill., When an upset Northwest scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter in four minutes and eleven seconds to score Notre Dame 24-21. It's at this point that Book slammed the cover.

Book, who looked like a drawn goalkeeper, ran around the left side and took off to allow the Irish to win 31-21. The junior finished 22 of 34 goals for 343 yards and two goals in the air, adding the biggest goal on the ground.

The team of coach Brian Kelly remains unbeaten at 9-0, and the Irish continue to get rid of those who doubt as contenders.

Next week's game against Florida State does not seem like a tough battle, but the Irish must still overtake Syracuse and USC to close the season. Each of these competitions could result in losses.

Even if the Irish give up one, it is possible to go into the playoffs, but you would think they would need to hold the table to take care of their business.

With Book under center, it's all they've done.

But the Central Florida Knights have won again, right?

Yes, they beat the Temple Owls 52-40 in a return match, no matter who has the most defeated ball, but that was not what the UCF needed to show.

Coach Josh Heupel's team has won its 21st consecutive game, which is essential. But if he wants to have the opportunity to win a national championship that is not mythical, style points matter.

McKenzie Milton hopeful quarterback of the UCF Heisman Trophy achieved another masterful performance.

But that defense is a problem, and victories like this (and a 31-30 win over a mediocre Memphis team) will not give any heat to the college football playoff committee.

Temple racked up a school record of 670 yards, which is why he had a 34-28 lead at half-time before UCF closed the Owls in the third quarter. It was another "meh" win to further polarize both sides of the UCF puzzle, as SI.com writes Andy Staples.

Last year, the undefeated Knights claimed that they were national champions, although no one else has recognized him.

"It's America. Anyone can claim anything," wrote Staples. "I can say that I am the sexiest man in America, although I'm sure my friends in People– which are the equivalent of the selection committee of the CFP on this particular issue – certainly would not agree. "

Late in the match, the ESPN cameras headed towards the crowd in Orlando, Florida, where a fan waved a sign stating "We want Bama!"

Performances like Thursday's are a reason why Knights will probably not have the opportunity.

In what had been a heavyweight battle between two of the Big 12's best teams, everything was reduced to a two-point conversion.

    Do this two.

After the West Virginia Mountaineers had scored to reduce Texas's lead to 41-40 at 16 seconds from the end, head coach Dana Holgorsen decided to score two points and to win the victory. Will Grier hit David Sills V for conversion that looked like conversion.

But officials have granted Texas head coach Tom Herman a wait (apparently) before shooting, which means that Holgorsen showed his hand and had to take another decision.

    He went for two times.

And the Mountaineers reconverted to a 42-41 victory.

"It was an easy decision when you have the number 7 to the quarter and 13 [Sills] Holgorsen told the Fox sideline team after the game. "When they scored, I thought," Well, they scored fast. "I went to the offensive and said:" Let's score and do what we do in two-point play. "We saved that one, we have a lot of confidence in it. then the decision has already been made before we take the field. "

This time, Grier got into the background and, during a quarterback designed, he crossed the goal line to knock out the Longhorns. Grier had a call of unsportsmanlike behavior on the game to taunt Texas, who set up the Horns with a chance to tie or go ahead.

But instead of trying to get the necessary 20 meters to reach the end zone, quarterback Sam Ehlinger spent too much time on the ground and tried a deep pass. It was a puzzling conclusion, but one thing that is not in question is the faith that Holgorsen had in the ability of his players to give him a shiny appearance.

"Mike Leach, you are our only hope."

    Signed, the Pac-12 conference.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, at this stage of maturity of the season, the Washington State Cougars are the only (outside) hope of the conference at College Football Playoff. All the other teams have not only left the playoffs, they have also left the map.

Utah became the latest victim after losing quarterback Tyler Huntley for what looks like a season with a collarbone injury and then lost the match against Arizona State 38-20.

Believe it or not, Arizona was at one point tied at the top of the South Division of the Pac-12 until the USC's victory over the Oregon State . The division is far from lost either, especially as the Trojans are young and unimpressive.

Who knows what will happen on this side of the conference?

As for the northern division, it is the Cougs and all the others. Washington's hectic season continued, beating Stanford 27-23, sending the cardinal back to injury. Oregon has had the same kind of ups and downs as the Huskies, even though it has dealt with UCLA.

The conference is a mess and no power will emerge anytime soon. Thank God for Wazzu, who was not supposed to be as good this year. But even the Gardner Minshew II licensee for 2019 has been transferred.

The Pac-12 needs to finish strong and regain its winning habits. It was a crazy season and not in a good way.

California and his Justin Wilcox-inspired defense carried the Minshew number a good part of the night.

The Washington State quarterback was transferred to Pullman before the season and had the kind of campaign that should lead to the national hardware and honors of the Pac-12 player of the year.

But in a battle with the Bears, he was excluded from the end zone until late in the fourth quarter when he scored 26 touchdown passes. With the score equal to 13-13 and 1:55 remaining in the match, the transfer from East Carolina was made.

The Cougars had the ball on their 39-yard line and Minshew made a brief crossover with James Williams for a first try. After an incompleteness, he delivered a ball to Jamie Calvin for 23 yards in Cal's territory.

Minshew then dismissed Easop Winston Jr., who stopped, adjusted to the ball and pulled the pass to the 10-yard line. Then he found Winston scoring for a touchdown and a 19-13 victory. The Cougs are 8-1 for the first time in 16 years.

"I thought Cal was a very good team," WSU coach Mike Leach told ESPN after the match. "Cal is a team that, I think, is emerging as the season progresses, and I think they're playing as well as anyone else." We thought it would be a war and of course it would was the case. "

Cal had several chances, but Wilcox tinkered with his back quarterbacks to keep the Bears from any offensive continuity, and the defensive failure in the end led to Wazzu's big win over a flawed night to keep control of the division. .

Despite all the attention given to Kentucky offspring Benny Snell Jr. and future striker Josh Allen, the Wildcats had to play a huge game against Georgia on Saturday.

    So much for storybook purposes.

The Bulldogs proved that they still dominated the Eastern SEC with a 34-17 victory over Kentucky in Lexington as part of a winning match for the SEC championship game. Make no mistake: the Wildcats had a phenomenal year, but they were outclassed.

Georgia did it by returning to the master plan that had it in the national championship game a year ago: a hasty, dynamic attack and a stifling defense.

Offensive halfback Andre Swift was beaten a good part of the season, but he scored his 156-yard performance in two touchdowns by an 83-yard touchdown to allow Georgia to lead 28-3. Kentucky did not have the offensive firepower to catch up eventually.

This performance came up against a British defense ranked 10th.

On the other hand, the defensive youth movement of the UGA meets. The Bulldogs looked explosive on that side of the ball and made Kentucky seem slow. It was a blow and it was the next big step for the Dawgs to return to the PCP.

There are two huge consecutive wins in the Eastern SEC for the Kirby Smart team, which seems to improve each week.

Louisville again showed Saturday that he should reduce his losses and end the Bobby Petrino era.

The Cardinals had no answer for Clemson, ranked 2nd, much to the surprise of anyone, being embarrassed by a team that rarely had to throw the ball into a 77-16 victory.

The Tigers had three 100-yard defeats, quarterback Chase Brice had three touchdown passes and Louisville could not do anything against the much vaunted Tigers defense.

But it is not something new. You do not need a power station to hit the cardinals. Last week, the Petrino team was decimated 56-35 by Wake Forest. With Saturday's defeat, UofL drops to 2-7 and it looks very likely that the match will move to 2-10 with Syracuse, NC and Kentucky remaining.

The Louisville Sports Department was not proud of its few seasons, and now, Petrino's failures on the field require a change of direction. With his favorite son and former quarterback Jeff Brohm revolving around Purdue's program, he sees the logical choice.

Would he be interested? It is difficult to imagine him overthrowing the cardinals, and the Louisville Courier JournalTim Sullivan wrote that you needed to secure Brohm before letting Petrino go.

"… My feeling is that he's going to have a lot of opportunities and I do not know if two years (at Purdue) will be enough for him to be convinced to stay," Aaron Kincade, Vice President of the Purdue Greater Louisville Chapter, told Sullivan. "Money is a very attractive asset for everyone and it's hard to miss when it comes."

Does Louisville need Brohm to get rid of Petrino? At this point it seems that the cardinals should act independently.

Remember this opening defeat of the season at Notre Dame?

    No one else either.

The Michigan Wolverines have quickly turned the page on this frustrating defeat and look like one of the best teams in the country. They continued to prove that Saturday in a dominant 42-7 victory over the unfortunate Penn State.

The Nittany Lions did not get any answers and an excellent quarterback from the senior Trace McSorley was average against the defensive Wolverines which is the class of the country. The PSU signal call ended only 5 of 13 for 83 passes and one interception.

It was just as bad as Alex Hornibrook's Wisconsin performance against the Wolverines – and just as futile.

With Rutgers and Indiana, the Wolverines are preparing for a gigantic end – of – year battle against Ohio State on November 24. Eyes on Dwayne Haskins, the quarterback of the OSU – no matter what everyone will want. tell you about the next game.

Michigan is focused, and is led by his veteran defense, who was right in choosing Brandon Watson to score 28-0 and never look back.

When you talk about Michigan, of course, you talk about defense, but you can not let offside halfback Karan Higdon, who has 132 yards. Shea quarterback Patterson was not fantastic, but he threw two goals and added another ground touchdown and 42 yards rushing.

Jim Harbaugh's team is dominant and nobody wants to be part of this strong and confident team.

Yes, it's a creative way to talk about the evening of Aca's career – Cedric Ware for Trojans.

But his 17-run, 205-yard run, which culminated in three touchdowns (including two of the most notable ones), has become the norm against the Beavers.

Of course, the state of Oregon is much better. A week ago, Colorado was upset by its first conference win and, although the Beavers could not take the lead against USC, they were already in the game until the second half.

It is this terrible defense that prevented them from giving Corvallis a reason to party. It seems like everyone has a career night on the field when they play at OSU, and it's still happened.

This Beavers D is by far the worst of the conference, he enters the match on Saturday night giving him 267.4 rushing yards per game. The second worst race is the UCLA D race, which leaves 58.1 meters less per game.

Ware is a half-talented semi-offensive who played an evasive match earlier this year in a 24-20 victory over Arizona, in which he wore 21 times for 173 yards and two goals .

It resurfaced on Saturday, and even though it was not considered a "big win", it was still a big win for the Trojans, who still have a lot to do in the open Pac-game. 12 South. They needed every one of those yards against beaver in battle.

The Buckeyes of the state of Ohio had to rely on the help of quarterback Dwayne Haskins, hopeful of the Heisman Trophy.

That came from running back J.K. Dobbins on Saturday against Nebraska to help Ohio State thwart a dangerous thwarted attempt by Cornhuskers, Scott Frost's coach, in a 36-31 victory. Dobbins finished with 23 yards and 163 yards and scored three touchdowns.

The Buckeyes racked up 229 yards and scored three touchdowns in four outings in the red zone. After the week following the shocking defeat at Purdue, it was a huge reaction to an offense that required a brilliant task.

OSU had not traveled more than 100 meters since his victory over Indiana in the 6th week. If the Buckeyes must have a chance to take it to the bottom right, they must remedy the situation quickly. There are always problems with the defense, the penalties and the care of the ball, but the race was healthy for a day.

Last year, Dobbins racked up 90 yards or more in five of the first eight games of the season. Prior to Saturday's games, he had reached that mark only once in eight games. Mike Weber has also been ineffective.

Dobbins changed the story with his performance against the Huskers. It looked like the OSU home threat needs and the one it was last season.

There are a lot of things that need to be worked on if OSU wants to reach the playoffs, but the ground game against Nebraska has been a major improvement.

The second half of Texas A & M Aggies (and especially the fourth quarter) in a 28-24 draw against Auburn Saturday reflected its second half of the past few seasons.

Unfortunately for head coach Jimbo Fisher and all the good vibrations the Aggies built during the first part of the season, 2018 also seems to be moving in that direction.

Within six minutes of the end, A & M had a 24-14 lead over the Jordan-Hare Stadium against an Auburn striker who could not count much for most of the match.

But after an interception of Kellen Mond A & M, Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham, has returned his team in a quality effort to reduce the gap to three points five minutes from the end. When the Tigers recovered the ball, Stidham found Ryan Davis for a 47-yard shot.

Freshman Seth Williams scored an extended touchdown to give the Tigers a head start in the next game, and A & M could not score in the final seconds.

This failed goal was the gate that opened Auburn, and the Tigers crossed it.

The fourth quarter was marked by the collapse of Fisher's team, which should follow the model of the Kevin Sumlin years (2012-2017), during which the Aggies started the season in force, but were then wilted.

Last weekend, A & M lost to Mississippi State in quarterback rebound Nick Fitzgerald. It was a start back for Stidham, who had just spent a week off. Auburn desperately needed something good, and he got it at home against the Aggies.

Fisher needs to find a way to rally this team with Ole Miss, UAB and LSU remaining.

James Conner still plays Pittsburgh, but it's now for the NFL Steelers. But Conner's alma mater has another runner-up, and he played a career game in one of the biggest screenings of the season on Friday night.

Darrin Hall racked up 229 yards in Pitt's 23-13 win over No. 23 Virginia in bad weather in Charlottesville to help coach Pat Narduzzi's team go up to 4-1. in the ACC and to control his destiny in the coastal division.

The former 5 "11" and 225-pounder had already rushed for 100 yards just once this season – with a 44-37 overtime victory over Syracuse – but he was the key figure in the second-half race that was vintage for a Narduzzi team and a flashback to old school football.

Entering the game, UVA was 21st at the national level in total defense, but you would never know how the Panthers shredded the Cavaliers after the break. First, in a majestic 15-yard, 84-yard third quarter game that was 8:40 behind, Hall scored his second goal to help Pitt advance 14-10.

On the next ride, the Panthers showed a quick strike ability with Hall's 75-yard ball to go forward through a touchdown.

Goal kicker kicker Alex Kessman, who scored for 53 yards, did the rest, but that was Hall's match. With Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Miami remaining, it is conceivable that the Panthers will find themselves in the ACC Championship game. It was a huge win, and there were Hall cleat marks.

It's too late for Khalil Tate to win the Heisman Trophy.

It is too late for the Arizona Wildcats to embark on the Pac-12 Championship game, even though it remains a strange scenario where they could go on their own. winner, Utah loses twice and UCLA and USC lose once.

It is not too late, however, for Tate to impress us.

We may have buried the old Khalil Tate, the player who ran on the field with a thoughtless abandon and a mentality of throwing to the second, but Friday night may have proved that we can stop early in 2018, Khalil Tate also.

The new Tate, who helped his team even break his record at 5-5 with an electrifying 42-34 win over Colorado, is perhaps the most exciting player in college football in the last third of the season.

At one point against the Buffaloes, he completed 12 consecutive passes before achieving a 17-of-22 performance, for 350 yards and five career touchdown passes, beating CU's Steven Montez in a desert duel.

Perhaps more importantly, he ran for a 25-yard run in high season, highlighting his ankle injury that made him tremble again on Friday night. After the futility of adapting to the new Kevin Sumlin-Noel Mazzone era, Tate has once again prospered.

"We had to play four quarters," Tate told the FS1 team at the post-game interview. "It's something that Coach Sumlin has been preaching for a long time, we're finally starting to do it in this half of the season and it's working pretty well."

It was a type of mastery quite different from the Colorado dominance last year in which Tate rushed for a 327 yard FBS record.

If he manages to keep his ankle healthy and run like that regularly, the rest of his junior season and next year may well end.

Iowa Cyclones 'receiver, Hakeem Butler, took part in Saturday' s game against Kansas, the second nationwide national, in yards per take, behind the threat of a deep strike from the. Alabama, Jerry Jeudy.

He did nothing to spoil these numbers on Saturday, finishing with five catches for 164 yards (32.8 yards average) and a pair of points in a 27-3 win over the advancing Jayhawks. It does not matter who throws at Butler (or the guard); he is dominant.

Since quarterback Brock Purdy took office Oct. 6, Butler has prospered. But it's not that a deep threat. At 6 ", 225 pounds, he has the kind of size, strength and speed that will make the NFL scooters drool. As a junior, he could return to Ames for his senior season.

But with more games like Saturday, we should ask "Why?"

On his second touchdown of the day– A 51-yard strike – Butler jumped over Kansas defense, Hasan Defens (if that's his name), recovered the ball, threw the defender and scored.

It was a touched adult man.

Neal Keal Harry, the receiver of the Sun Devils of the Arizona State, should already be qualified for the first round, and he explained why Saturday in a huge 38 to 20 victory over Utah. Coach Herm Edwards' best weapon ended in nine catches for 161 yards and three touchdowns in one of the biggest setbacks of the season with Pac-12.

This conference remains enigmatic, but Harry's talent is not surprising. He is the main target of Manny Wilkins, QB, and one of the best masterminds in the country. The Utes had no answer.

It's a big problem.

But this was a relief to get that first victory of the season. One-win Rice now has to regroup.
