WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Saudi billionaire, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, an international businessman of the kingdom, announced Sunday that an official investigation into the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi would exonerate the country's leader.

In Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, he called on Saudi Arabia to release the results of the investigation as soon as possible.

Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist criticizing the Saudi government and his de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was killed after he joined the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in early October.

Prince Alwaleed told Fox News that an official Saudi inquiry would show that the crown prince is not involved in the killing of Kashoggi.

"Please, leave some time for the investigation to finish," he said. "I now publicly ask Saudi Arabia, through your program, that the investigation be made public as soon as possible, so that I believe that the Saudi Crown Prince will be justified and exonerated at 100. %. "
