HARRISON – The Waupaca County authorities confirmed Sunday the death of a 1 1/2 year old boy who disappeared on Saturday afternoon.

A group of volunteers found the child's body shortly before 8 am Sunday in the Little Wolf River, which flows near the family's home, the Waupaca County Sheriff's Department said.

The police did not reveal the name of the child, pending notification of family members.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, the sheriff's department called for respect for the family's privacy.

Police suspended a thorough search involving nearly two dozen emergency response agencies after the boy's discovery.

Saturday's authorities had sought additional volunteers to help with the search. Volunteers had to arrive at 9:00 am Sunday, but the searches were canceled.

The sheriff's department issued a statement just after 23 hours. Saturday, saying that the boy had disappeared from the garage of the family home around 15:30. He was with his family before they noticed that he was missing.

Twenty-one law enforcement agencies from Waupaca County, as well as state and local authorities searched Saturday night with the help of drones and K9 units. .
