A 13-year-old boy attacked by a shark in San Diego County during a diving trip experiences serious injury

A 13-year-old boy was sent to the hospital after being attacked by a shark off Beacon's Beach in Encinitas, California.

Around 9:55 on September 29, the teenager was attacked at sea, reports Fox 5.

According to NBC San Diego, the boy suffered "serious injuries" to his ear and shoulder and was immediately flown to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.

A witness who knew the victim told Fox 5 that the boy was diving.

Another witness told NBC that about 30 people were also in the water at the time of the attack, catching lobster.

Upon hearing the boy screaming, the source heard the teenager exclaim: "I bit myself".

"I approached him and there was a great trail of blood behind him. His entire back was open, "said the witness. "The shark hit him in the collarbone. The shark's teeth put it on the cheek. "

Treated by lifeguards before the arrival of the emergency staff, the boy arrived at the hospital around 7.45am.

A spokesman for Rady Children's Hospital told NBC that the boy's condition was unknown at the moment.
