CINCINNATI, Ohio (WFLA) – Christmas arrived early in the year for a little boy from Ohio who recently received a devastating diagnosis.
Earlier this year, Brody Allen, 2, was diagnosed with a rare type of brain cancer and was not responding to treatment. Five weeks ago, doctors told his family that he had only two months to live.
After receiving heartbreaking news, Brody's family decided to help her make as many memories as possible. They celebrated Christmas at the beginning of this year so that the little boy could live the holiday again.
Family members reached out to neighbors, then turned to social media for help in spreading the Christmas spirit.
The neighborhood has come together and turned their street into a winter wonderland with lights and decorations. Brody even met Santa Claus at an Italian dinner hosted by members of the community.
The family says that the boy has also received cards and gifts from people around the world.
"Inside, there is a bucket full of mail and we received everything this morning," said Brody's sister McKenzie. "The postman was never coming down the street, he is now coming down the street with his truck because he can not carry all the mail in his hands."
While they are working to make the most of the time that Brody has left, her family has created a Facebook page called TEAM BRODY to "spread all the love, joy and support".
"We thank you for being part of a small piece of our life and we look forward to sharing the highlights of Brody's life with you while he is here," his parents wrote on the page.
The family has also created a GoFundMe account and entered their contact details on the group's Facebook page.
