TUMWATER, Wash. – Several fire crews rushed Monday morning into an office building near the former Olympia brewery property in Tumwater.

Around 2:30 am, a guard on site reported seeing smoke in the building. According to Ann Cook, Tumwater's Communications Manager, the fire is declared south of Block 100 of Custer Way SW, which is not the historic property of the brewery as the city is renovating. She said the property is north of the road.

According to Cook, no project will be affected in office buildings; However, it is unclear how much damage will have to be monitored after the fire. This section of the property was part of the 1933 establishment that the city calls the modern brewery factory.

Cook said the fire was largely under control from around 4:30 am.

A cause has not been identified.

Expect closures of Custer Way on Capitol SE Boulevard while firefighters remain on scene to monitor fire and damage.
