Cody Wilson, a gun rights activist, reportedly fled Texas to Taiwan after being told he would be charged with paying $ 500 for a 16-year-old girl. But now, local media in Taiwan report that he has been captured.

Quoting an article in the daily newspaper, Apple Daily, Taiwan News, said that Mr. Wilson had been arrested today and would be transferred to the Taiwan Criminal Investigation Bureau. He will then be sent to the National Immigration Agency, according to the newspaper, before being deported. It is not clear immediately whether or when Wilson will be transferred to US authorities since Taiwan does not have an extradition treaty with the United States.

The charges against Wilson were announced by the Texas police Wednesday and include the sexual assault of a child, a second degree crime. Wilson allegedly met a 16-year-old girl on the SugarDaddyMeet.com website and allegedly arranged a meeting at an Austin café before taking him to a hotel where the authorities report having had sex and oral sex.

Wilson reportedly gave five 100 dollar bills to the teenager and was allegedly captured on a surveillance video with the girl at the cafe and at the hotel. The license plate of the car in both locations would be a vehicle registered with Wilson, Defense Distributed.

According to local news in Taiwan, Wilson was staying at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Taipei on September 6th, but left on September 7th. He reportedly tried to rent an apartment in Taiwan but was recognized by a local as the wanted man in Texas. From Taiwan News:

Wilson had paid the first month's rent of NT $ 19,000 ($ 620) and a deposit of NT $ 18,000 on Thursday afternoon, but he did not show up at the agreed time around Friday noon. to take possession of the keys to the apartment. he had also become a wanted man in Taiwan.

Wilson, head of a company called Defense Distributed which has given generously to Ted Cruz, has become the center of national news over the past year for his clashes with the federal government. A judge ordered him to stop distributing plans for 3D-printed firearms, but continued to do so in August.

The conspiracy theories about this case appeared online, with some members of the gun rights community suggesting that Wilson be put in place to oppose the government. But even some of his most ardent advocates acknowledge that it is difficult to dispute the allegations if Wilson had been filmed in two different places with the 16-year-old girl, including in the hotel room where they would have had sex. sexual.
