HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) –

Police say a 4-year-old may have witnessed the murder of his mother during an alleged murder-suicide at a motel in West Houston.

The authorities told Eyewitness News that they thought the child was in the room when it happened at the Red Roof Inn, at 2960 W. Sam Houston Parkway.

According to officials, the boy went down to the lobby at around 12:30 pm and told the hotel staff that his mother had been shot dead by a man.

A security guard went to the third floor room and, receiving no answer, opened the door to find the woman and one man dead from gunshot wounds.

At present, the police say that it seems like a murder-suicide.

The boy was not injured, but he was rushed to the hospital as a precaution because he was pissed off.

According to the police, all this began when officers received a report from the Marine Corps Police Department in California that one of their service members was reporting disturbing and suicidal remarks online.

When California law enforcement officials realized that he was in Houston, they contacted the Houston police, who were informed that the man had a gun.

Officers had been looking for the couple for several hours when they received the motel's call during the night.

Authorities believe that the man and the woman were in a relationship. We do not know why he was in Houston or if the woman and the child live here.
