GALION, Ohio –
Police in Galion, Ohio, are investigating whether a child has received a Halloween candy containing methamphetamine.
According to the police, a 5-year-old boy was treated for having used an illegal substance after a sleight of hand on Sunday night.
"It was discovered that the child had been tested positive for methamphetamine in his system," said Galion Police Chief Brian Saterfield.
Chief Saterfield said the authorities did not know if the child was eating sweets, but according to the boy's parents, he was playing with a toy at the vampire's mouth that he'd got by playing tricks. Seconds later, he started having a seizure.
"Since then, we have brought evidence to the crime lab," said Chief Saterfield.
Since the incident, the entire community is on maximum alert.
"I will not drag my children anymore. I'll buy them candy and they'll finish, "said parent Autumn Meuser. "This kid could have died."
"By the end of the day, a 5-year-old with methamphetamine, no matter how much, was not good," said Chief Saterfield.
The boy should recover completely.
