The body of a man was found Saturday in Alviso Marina in San Jose. The Santa Clara County coroner inquires if he is a 49ers fan missing since last Monday's game at nearby Levi's Stadium.

The discovery of the body was reported to the San Jose police on Saturday at 2:52 pm, and the agency immediately alerted the Santa Clara Police Department, who was looking for Ian Powers, 32, of Spokane, Wash.

The captain of the Santa Clara police, Wahid Kazem, said that his agency had been informed of the discovery and that it was a man. No other information, including whether or not the man wore a 49ers outfit – a red hat, a red T-shirt and jeans – like Powers, had been provided, he said.

"At this point, there is nothing official to link" the two cases, Kazem said.

The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office is working to identify the body and cause of death. The coroner's officers did not answer the calls on Sunday.

Powers was last seen towards the end of the "Monday Night Football" game after announcing to his girlfriend that he was going to the restroom. The stadium surveillance video showed him walking on a walkway with many other supporters. Her car was found where she was parked nearby, with no sign of foul play.

Anyone informed of Powers' disappearance is asked to contact the Santa Clara Police Department at 408 615-5580.
