A 13-year-old boy brought balloons filled with cocaine to his school Friday, leading to medical examinations for a group of his classmates, the police said.

Fortunately, all the kids were tested negative, FOX 26 from Fresno.

Students at Carl F. Smith College in Terra Bella, about 43 miles north of Bakersfield, discovered two balloons in the playground, the Visalia Times Delta reported, citing law enforcement.

School officials assumed that the white powdery substance in the balloons was flour, but as a precaution, they called the authorities around 8:30 am, said Lt. Kevin Kemmerling.

"The deflated balloons, similar to drug packages, contained a white powdery substance inside and outside the package," said the Tulare County Sheriff's Office in a statement.

The narcotics officers determined that the substance was cocaine.

Authorities found traces of the drug on the boy's t-shirt and at his home after a K9 search, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. No additional cocaine was found at the school, said the sheriff's office.

"The reasons (students) contacted the school staff: they were manipulating the balloons, they opened the balloons and saw white powdery substances and two students were dizzy".

A total of 13 children were exposed to drugs and transported to a hospital 14 kilometers away, officials said. The classes resumed after the investigators had agreed.

Meanwhile, the evictors questioned the boy.

Hearing this news, parents gathered at the school to keep their children safe, the Times Delta reported. Some heard the news through social media, while others did not know it before picking up their children.

"I am very concerned about my daughter's safety at school after today," a Times quoted a newspaper as saying. "The school should pay more attention to children. It's scary. "

The authorities continue to investigate.
