A boy with autism in North Carolina has not been seen at the park, says a worker who called 911

A worker from a park where an autistic from North Carolina was reported missing nearly a week ago said Wednesday that he had never seen the child of six years in the region before his disappearance.

Rick Foxx, who called the police last Saturday to report the disappearance of Maddox Ritch, told CBS News that the boy's father, Ian Ritch, and his friend, who was not identified, did not seem to be concerned about the 'child. Ritch had told the police that his son, who had non-verbal autism, was in front of him and had disappeared from sight when he was in Rankin Lake Park, about 32 kilometers west of Charlotte.

"It did not seem like it worried them," Foxx told CBS News, referring to the couple. "I worked there almost three years ago and we see everyone coming in and out of this park pretty much, I did not see that child once."

Foxx also told WSOC-TV that Ritch seemed "out of breath" when he approached her asking for help. Foxx added that he went out to look for Maddox and contacted the police when he could not find the child.

"He did not act as a worried parent, as I would, or any concerned parent would act," Foxx told the news station. "The mother [Carrie Ritch] was really frenzied. She was hysterical. She got out of the car and one of the sheriff's deputies had to calm her down.

The 911 call made public on Wednesday by the police showed a park employee that Maddox's parent and officials had "searched everywhere" for the child, FOX46 reported.

"The parents are looking here," hears the park employee.

The park remains closed Thursday as research continues. The FBI dive team was deployed Thursday to search the reservoir lake, and other officials searched the marshes and surrounding woods.

On Wednesday, Ritch said it was "torture" while watching his son's search as officials entered the sixth day looking for Maddox.

"I'm not eating, I'm not sleeping," Ritch told a press conference with Gastonia police and the FBI, "I'm just worried about picking up my little boy. After the first night he would be fine. "

"I just want my little boy at home. I want to know that he is safe. I want to give him a big hug as soon as I see him, "he added. "I just want to know that he's safe."

Ritch said he did not "catch up" with his son when he ran on Saturday, adding that he felt "guilty of letting him walk so far."

Police said that Maddox's mother, her father and the friend at the park "cooperated fully with the investigation."

Maddox is described as 4 feet, 45 pounds with blond hair. The last time we saw him, he wore an orange T-shirt "I am the man" and black shorts with white stripes.
