LAMPASAS, Texas – Several injuries were reported Saturday when a bus carrying students from Oklahoma spilled along a central Texas highway.

Deputy Chief of the Lampasas Police Department, Jody Cummings, said the accident had occurred around 3:18 pm near Lampasas, about 61 miles northwest of Austin.

Cummings said the bus carrying 27 people, including female students, and a driver were traveling from Norman, Oklahoma to San Antonio when he spilled and struck a fence. Cummings said the students had bruises, scratches and broken bones, but that there had been no deaths. All the students were taken to local hospitals for treatment, he said.

It was not known immediately how many people had been injured or how big their wounds were. Cummings also said that he did not know the age of the students involved.

The bus was reportedly one of two students carrying Cleveland Elementary School in Norman. Cummings said that the cause of the accident was not immediately known.
