GRIFFITH PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) –
A small bush fire erupted Friday morning near the Los Angeles Zoo in the Griffith Park area, closing the popular tourist site of the day.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the area of the fire was estimated at about 30 acres after burning through heavy brush with "steep and very difficult terrain", the fire is controlled at 15% to 11%. h 15 and the flames are no longer visible.
Officials from the LAFD said that a firefighter had been transported to a nearby hospital with a laceration injury that did not put his life in danger.
LAFD officials said that strong winds were not a factor in the fight against the fire, which involved at one point more than 150 firefighters and two helicopters.
The popular L.A. Zoo was closed to the public for the day. Staff evacuated animal show birds and small primates, the zoo said in a tweet, adding that it did not appear that fire smoke poses a problem to other animals.

High plumes of white smoke were spotted behind the zoo when the fire broke out.
No structure was burned or damaged.
The fire broke out amidst two major fires on the border between Los Angeles and Ventura County. The Woolsey Fire charred thousands of acres and destroyed several homes.
