A Californian woman on a hike in Michigan dies taking her selfie: officials

A Californian woman visiting the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan, died this week while she allegedly took a selfie, according to National Park Service officials.

The woman – who was identified as Tu Thanh Nguyen, 32, from Sunnyvale, California, according to the WLUC News – was hiking alone on Wednesday.

About one kilometer from the Grand Portal Point in the park, she stopped to take a selfie. She then fell 200 feet from the edge of the cliff and landed in Lake Superior below.

According to WLUC-News, two kayakers who allegedly saw the woman fall, recovered her body and took her to the shore of Chapel Beach.

Nguyen's death was deemed accidental following an investigation by the National Parks Service and the authorities of the Canton of Algiers.
