A soup restaurant in eastern China lost about $ 190 million in market value after a pregnant woman reported finding a dead rat in her soup.
The well-known chain, Xiabu Xiabu, has been closed for investigation by health officials after the incident and the stock has reached its lowest level for almost a year after the news broadcast, reports the BBC.

The woman and her husband ate at the restaurant on Thursday night when she discovered the dead rat in the pot – and says the restaurant staff offered her money to abort if the meal affected her unborn baby's health. .
Her husband, last name Ma, alerted the restaurant staff. Ma alleges that the restaurant staff offered the couple money for an abortion when he worried about the baby's health after eating the rat soup.
"If you are worried about the baby, then we will give you 20,000 yuan ($ 3,000) to abort," Ma said.

Ma stated that he and his wife had gone to the hospital where she had done a checkup to make sure the baby was healthy.
The restaurant would have later offered Ma 5000 yuan ($ 728) in compensation for the incident, a price he was willing to negotiate after his visit to the hospital, he said at South China Morning Post.
It has not been reported how much money, if any, the couple received.
Health officials investigated the restaurant and found no trace of rats, but closed the site for further violations, including water accumulation in the food processing areas and use of suppliers of unskilled products.
