A crash caused by a chain reaction near the Lincoln Tunnel injures five people on a NJ Transit bus

Five people aboard a New Jersey bus in transit in New York City were injured near the Lincoln Tunnel on Monday morning when a car hit the bus before hitting another vehicle.

The car was traveling west on the propeller after leaving the Lincoln Tunnel around 7:15 am when it struck the bus east of the XBL (exclusive bus lane), according to a passenger on board 320 another vehicle heading west before coming to a stop.

The accident temporarily blocked all lanes in the direction of the west, according to the police of the port authority. The westbound traffic out of the Lincoln Tunnel has been diverted to Hoboken.

According to a New Jersey Transit spokesperson, the driver and four bus passengers were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Information on the injuries of the occupants of two cars was not immediately available, but the Port Authority Police stated that they were not considered life threatening.

Bus No. 320 left from the Secaucus area to the port authority bus terminal.

Delays in the Lincoln Tunnel bound for New York were largely eased at 9:45.

The eastbound XBL was temporarily closed, but reopened around 8:35 am Bus passes will be temporarily honored on NJ Transit trains.

Drivers were asked to use the George Washington Bridge or the Hollands Tunnel as alternative routes.

Police and rescue workers remained on the scene of the propeller crash at 8:30.
