One passenger relates that she was forced to leave a Delta Connection flight at the Fort Wayne International Airport as a result of an argument with an air hostess for to know if his phone was in airport mode.
New York resident Robyn Rodgers, took to Instagram to publicly report the incident. In addition to the recorded footage, Rodgers said that she had been "unjustly ejected" from the Delta 4527 flight after an attendant had asked her to put her phone in airplane mode.
"I told him," I know how to activate airplane mode, "I do not have to stay on top of me," Rodgers said in the message. "She became restless and said," If you do that, we can go back to the door and you can go down. "I raised my phone to show him that airplane mode was on."
Rodgers said that the attendant left and returned to her seat to inform her that the plane would come back to the door where she would be asked to leave the flight. Three other adult passengers, who stood up to defend the woman, were also expelled from the flight, she said, including a passenger with a child who was also forced to leave the plane.
SkyWest Airlines, a regional airline contracted by Delta for flights to small towns, operated on June 23rd. Many passengers are unaware of the distinction since customer flight routes remain on Delta's reservation system.
The air hostess is a SkyWest employee, says Delta.
"We take all allegations of discrimination seriously, operating under the name of Delta Connection," SkyWest Airlines spokeswoman Marissa Snow said in a statement in New York Daily News "We are disappointed that our customers have had this experience and are working with our partner Delta to ensure direct follow-up with the customers involved."
