On the occasion of the 92nd annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade across New York City, Helena's Martha Sprague will showcase her singing skills to more than 3.5 million viewers and 50 million viewers across the country.

Sprague, who has been with Helena Macy's for nine years and also with the Grandstreet Theater, has been selected to represent Montana on a float that will feature 100 Macy employees from across the country. Nicknamed "The Macy's Singing Christmas Tree," the three-story float will resonate with a melody of Christmas melodies with a new song called "We Believe".

"I'm more excited and not too nervous," Sprague said earlier this week in New York, where she was scheduled to begin rehearsals. "There are very good singers from other parts of Macy's kingdom, and for a moment it did not seem real."

Although Sprague does not describe herself as an officially trained singer, her audition tape drew the eyes and ears of the selection committee.

His colleagues surprised him with the news. She stated that they had convened a meeting about a "parade" – which Sprague originally thought was a local parade – and announced being selected for the event in New York.

"I was stunned and almost sure I started crying," she said. "I watch the parade since I was a little girl. It's an opportunity to do something I've always wanted to do, and I'm just amazed that Macy's is giving me this opportunity. "
