This is because of alcohol?
Things got a bit crazy on a Delta Airlines red-eye flight that left Salt Lake City on Friday morning for Orlando.
According to a report from the Oklahoma City Police Department, passenger Derek Maas was arrested after the plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City due to his uncontrolled behavior .
Sgt. Gary Knight, OCPD Information Office Assistant, told the Miami Herald that the police were called around 2 am saying that there was a "violent passenger" on board and that the plane had to to be diverted.
Once at the airport, the police met with the crew as well as with other passengers who said that Maas had consumed many drinks before boarding the plane. # 39; air.
Once in the air, Maas began to have more and more appetite and asked for more alcohol even though he clearly had enough of it. Knight said that a flight attendant had initially refused his request, but then, to keep him "calm," he gave him two more drinks. The cocktails did not calm down, said Knight, adding that Maas had even become "more belligerent".
She then cut it off for good. After Maas called the flight attendant under a "profane" name, an attendant intervened to talk to Maas, who then began arguing with him, eventually taking over the steward's direction. The other passengers then intervened to help and the suspect was restrained by fasteners.
While chatting with Maas, the cops found him "seriously intoxicated," Knight said, adding that "no one was seriously injured."
He has been accused of public drunkenness but could face other charges while the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are currently investigating.
"He did not finish," said Knight of the Utah man.
