An Alabama supporter was beaten while he was in a bar celebrating the 29-0 win over LSU on Saturday night, deceased Tuesday as a result of injuries sustained during the altercation, according to the members of his family.

Police were called to the Ponchatoula Pub in Ponchatoula, Mass., Early Sunday morning to report a fight in a bar. A volunteer firefighter tended to have Robert Bowers, aged 46, seriously injured after being "stunned by two other men at the bar," according to WBRZ, citing police reports.

Bowers was transported to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, Louisiana, and then transferred to the University Medical Center where he died on Tuesday, according to the report.

The two men allegedly attacking Bowers were identified as 27-year-old Azia Crockett and 24-year-old Ryan Anthony. The suspects were arrested and sentenced for manslaughter.

Bowers' family members told WBRZ that the altercation was "motivated by the fantasy of Bowers", although the police did not disclose the details of what motivated the fight. Police Chief Bry Layrisson said Tuesday that Bowers did not seem to be the aggressor.
