A flight of Delta Air Lines catches fire during an interrupted takeoff at JFK airport

More than 250 passengers and crew members were evacuated from a Delta Air Lines flight on Monday night after the fire broke out in the wheelhouse.

The Delta flight 420, departing from JFK International Airport for Accra, Ghana, halted takeoff after finding a problem with the speedometer, which caused overheating of the brakes and the aircraft. ignite, reports the New York Post.

The small fire was extinguished on the taxiway and no one was injured, confirmed a spokesman for the New York Port Authority and New Jersey (PANYNJ) at Fox News. PANYNJ had no operational impact on the other flights.
