A Florida woman deliberately dropped a baby on the floor while she was fleeing police officers trying to stop her Monday in traffic jams, authorities said.

Kayla Morgan, 23, was arrested on charges of child sexual abuse and resistance to arrest, according to WESH-TV. Morgan dropped the baby's head first and the infant suffered a skull fracture following the incident, Marion County Sheriff's Assistants said.

The Marion County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report that a woman was crossing the traffic with a baby near the areas of Highway 315 and Highway 40, the station reported.

When MPs approached Morgan, she started running and dropped the baby, the authorities said. Morgan was detained and taken to a nearby hospital. It was not clear if the baby that she left belonged to her.

Morgan admitted to having taken the psychoactive drug "Molly" and methamphetamine in the last three days before the incident on the Florida Highway, investigators said.

She told the investigators that she thought "that a monster was trying to suck the blood," according to WESH-TV.
