A former employee of New Hampshire Senator Maggie Hassan was arrested on Wednesday for a slew of charges for allegedly harming at least one US senator, police said.
Jackson A. Cosko, 27, of Washington, DC, has been charged with making restricted personal information, tampering with witnesses, threats to communicate with each other, unauthorized access to a computer in the United States government, identity theft, second-degree burglary and illegal entry, according to a statement. United States Capitol Police.
The authorities allege that Cosko has published confidential information on the Internet concerning one or more US senators.
Cosko worked in Hassan's office as Legislative Officer and Systems Administrator from January 2017 to May 2018.
We do not know immediately why he left Hassan's office earlier this year; the messages left at the office were not returned Wednesday night.
The investigation is ongoing and new charges could be laid, according to the US Capitol Police.
Many outlets in recent days have reported that a person had posted personal addresses and phone numbers of Republican Senators Wikipedia pages, Orrin Hatch, Mike Lee and Lindsey Graham.
The Hill reported that the anonymous Wikipedia edits were made while the trio of senators attended Thursday a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding the appointment of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Kavanaugh and a woman charged with sexual assault, Californian psychologist Christine Blasey Ford, spent hours testifying before the committee on Thursday.
