A friend of one of the Boston Marathon terrorists was deported to Kazakhstan after serving his sentence in a federal prison.

Dias Muratovich Kadyrbayev, a 24-year-old Kazakh national, and two other close friends of terrorist Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were arrested shortly after the April 2013 attack. Kadyrbayev was found guilty in June 2015 of having removed and eliminated evidence in Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's dormitory.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother, Tamerlane Tsarnaev, laid two bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three people and injuring hundreds. Two police officers were also killed during the subsequent search of the brothers.

After the bombing, Kadyrbayev and another friend, Azamat Tazhayakov, got rid of Tamerlan Tsarnaev's computer and backpack, the Associated Press reported. A third friend, Robel Phillipos, lied to peace officers during the federal investigation.

Kardyrbayev was sentenced to six years in prison for conspiring to obstruct justice and obstruct justice, ICE said.

Immigration and customs authorities arrested Kardyrbayev on August 29, according to ICE. He was escorted to the airport on 23 October and released in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 24 October.

Tazhayako was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for conspiracy and obstruction of justice and was released in May 2016. Phillipos was sentenced to three years in prison and released in February.

A judge sentenced Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to death in June 2015.
