A 10-year-old Pennsylvania girl was found dead due to an extreme drop in blood sugar during a slumber party last Sunday.

The family of the tragic Sophia Daughtery, who was a Type 1 diabetic, reported experiencing extreme low blood sugar during the night and being considered unresponsive the next morning.

In the morning, Sophia was suffering from brain trauma and a brainstem hernia, and was taken to the hospital. To help with the hospitalization costs, family members have created a GoFundMe page for the fifth year.

A few days later, it is on this page that they announced: "We lost our sweet Sophia.

"She went home to heaven on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 3:44 pm," they posted in an update on the GoFundMe page.

"She was surrounded by family and friends. She no longer suffers from this disease. Your prayers and support are invaluable.

According to WPXI News, the death of the 10-year-old left his class of 80 students in shock.

"It was a popular little girl," said Len Rich, the director of Sophia's school, at WPXI.com.

"The most commonly used adjective was" sweet "- the sweet Sophia. She will be missed.

Sophia's family said she was going to donate her organs and that her funeral service was scheduled for the weekend.
