A grandmother accused of murder after the discovery of a stabbed and baked baby

A Mississippi grandmother was arrested on Tuesday after officials found a stabbed girl in a hot oven on Monday night.

Carolyn Jones, 48, is charged with first degree murder for the death of her granddaughter in Shaw, Missouri, confirmed on Tuesday at NBC News the sheriff of Bolivar County, Kelvin Williams.

The girl, 20-month-old Marie Floyd, was found by a parent who later contacted Shaw's police department. Upon arriving at the scene, police contacted the Bolivar County Sheriff's Office for assistance.

The kingship lived with Jones at the time of his death, the sheriff's office announced in a press release. We did not know where the girl's parents were.

Jones appeared in court on Tuesday night and received $ 500,000 bail.

The officials did not specify the temperature at which the oven was or how long the child was able to stay there.
