BOWNE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – The home of the Kent County Clerk and Republican Lieutenant Governor Lisa Posthumus Lyons caught fire on Sunday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 15:30. at home in block 7800 of Alden Nash Avenue southeast of 84th Street in Bowne Township. Nobody was hurt.
Kent County Central Dispatch confirmed that the fire had broken out in the garage and then spread. The house is considered a total loss.
Firefighters on the scene said there was no indication of criminal behavior, but a firefighter investigator would be home Monday.
Lyons is Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette's nominee for the next governorship. A statement from the Schuette campaign indicates that the house is where Lyons and his family grew up.
Our prayers are with Lisa Posthumus Lyons and her family tonight while they lost their home in Alto to shoot today. Everyone is safe and we are grateful. Please keep them in your thoughts. @ LPL4LG
