A New York judge ruled that a lawsuit by the state's attorney general against President Trump and the Trump Foundation could be prosecuted, a ruling that could expose the president and his charity to millions of potential sentences.
The lawsuit, filed in June by Attorney General Barbara Underwood, concerns allegations that Trump used the foundation inappropriately to settle commercial disputes and support his 2016 campaign for the presidency. The lawsuit is also named after three children of President Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump.
In her ruling on Friday, Justice Saliann Scarpulla rejected the efforts of the president's lawyers to have the case dismissed.
