A jury concludes that a man is linked to the brutal murder of Hofstra Grad in 2016 by the "jeweler of the stars"

A Manhattan jury found the adopted son of a famous jeweler, accused of the brutal murder of a young Hofstra graduate in 2016 after a festive night, guilty of all counts Friday.

James Rackover, 27, of Manhattan, was indicted last year in the death of Joseph Comunale, 26 years old.

Rackover was convicted of second degree murder, obstructing first-degree prosecutions and concealment of a human corpse.

He should be sentenced on December 5, 2018.

Prosecutors said that Comunale, of Stamford, had been stabbed more than a dozen times in a luxury apartment in Manhattan, owned by Rackover, after partying with him and other people.

His body was found buried in a shallow grave in New Jersey on November 16, 2016. The authorities claim that Rackover and an alleged accomplice would have put him there. Comunale had been stabbed more than a dozen times in the chest; his legs were burned and a gas bottle was found nearby, according to the criminal complaint.

According to a criminal complaint, an informant told authorities that Rackover was leaving his building and putting a large gym bag in the trunk of a black Mercedes with tinted windows.

The records show that the car left Manhattan to travel to New Jersey through the Holland Tunnel, the criminal complaint said.

Clothes, sheets and towels were found in Rackover's apartment during an investigation, prosecutors said. The black vehicle that Rackover had seen driving was then returned to Manhattan, left in a parking garage located in the east of 58th Street, and a cadaver dog issued a positive alert in case of body or of body fluids in the trunk, according to the complaint.

Rackover was born James Beaudoin in Florida and has a criminal record, including for burglary. The Broward County Sheriff's Office provided NBC News with several photos of the mug as early as 2007.

He was also charged with drunk driving in New York in 2015.

The court records show that Beaudoin changed his family name for Rackover in 2015 after being placed under the wing of Jeffery Rackover, jeweler of stars. The two men met in 2013 and became so close that Rackover called Beaudoin de fils, according to former NYPD detective, Bo Dietl, a friend of the famous jeweler.

Rackover was aware of Beaudoin's difficult past and helped him find a job and an apartment in his building after meeting him, Dietl said at the end of 2016, adding that Rackover did not have a job. had never had children and had adopted Beaudoin as his.
