PLEASANTON, California (KGO) –
A large platform carrying 27 tonnes of concrete sand spilled on the south lanes of I-680, near Bernal Avenue in Pleasanton.
According to the CHP, a newer white Honda Civic swept the big platform before 5am, forcing the driver to turn around and sign a black chord.
The driver of the agreement was hospitalized.
The driver of the big truck then hit a guardrail, overturned and dumped his cargo on several tracks heading south.
Israel Gonzalez was driving. He was carrying tons of cement sand up to Fremont when he was swept to the side. Gonzalez was able to get out of the accident without hurting himself.
"I'm really lucky because I'm still alive, you can see my truck," Gonzalez told ABC7 News. "I feel really, really bad because you know, because I do not want to hurt anyone."
The accident and sand spill into the concrete resulted in heavy traffic at the start of the Friday morning commute.
The CHP said the Civic driver had been involved in a hit and run with a silver Infiniti to the north near Stoneridge. The Infiniti then began following the Honda Civic heading south on the I-680, according to authorities.
A witness reported that two vehicles drove imprudently in front of the Civic sweeping the large platform, officers said.
"There is about a mile and a half between the scene of the crash and that of Stoneridge," said Kevin Johnson, PSC agent, at ABC7 News. "The initial hit-and-run accident was not related to that."
Officers connected with the driver of the Infiniti.
Authorities continue their search for the Civic pilot, wanted for offense.
Two lanes have been reopened and all lanes are expected to reopen at 1 pm

#UPDATE A great pilot, Israel Gonzalez confirms that the material he was carrying was sand. The teams are working on cleaning the SB 680's concrete sand. The pilot responsible for Gonzalez's side scan, crushing him on the Black Accord video, took off. # abc7now pic.twitter.com/mhwt4btBah

The driver of the big truck is in the orange vest in the distance. It's ok after two sedans crashed against her ground carrier, having overturned her this morning. 27 tons of first were dumped on I-680. # abc7now pic.twitter.com/Opfue2vvGz

Israel Gonzalez was carrying 27 tons of land from Pleasanton to Fremont this morning. A white Honda Civic swept its trailer along the SB 680 and took off. Gonzalez's truck rolled over and he finished over the guardrail. He went away. Sensational. Hear from him at 11a. He's there. # abc7now pic.twitter.com/BYZ8Ten746
