According to the sheriff's office, MPs were summoned to a Largo house on November 17 for a report on an insensitive child. On arrival, the paramedics help Gwendolyn Eydelman, 7 weeks old, who was not responding and was not breathing.

Artem Eydelman, 29, told MPs at the time that he had found Gwendolyn in his cradle in this state. He said that he had nurtured her and had her in the crib a little earlier and had fallen asleep in her bed.

Gwendolyn was transported to the Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. On 19 November, she was removed from the intensive care unit and succumbed to her injuries.

The doctors informed the detectives that Gwendolyn was suffering from a skull fracture, consistent with a "violent impact", bleeding to the brain and fractured ribs, according to detectives from the sheriff's office.

On Monday, Artem Eydelman confessed to the investigators during an interview that he had actually hit Gwendolyn in the head with a clenched fist by changing his diaper that day. He also admitted to shaking the child and squeezed the abdominal section before calling 911.

All this happened while Gwendolyn's mother, Mariah Samon, 26, was at work.

As a result of the interview, detectives arrested Eydelman without incident. He was later transferred to Pinellas County Jail.

Eydelman was charged with first degree murder, a breach of probation county – robbery by sudden tearing and a county breach of probation – trafficking in stolen property.
