A layer washed in a washbasin invites attendants to ask tractors to urinate in bags
Travelers have recently been having trouble for travelers to Kona, Hawaii, from Phoenix, when flight attendants reportedly informed passengers that they could not use the onboard toilets.
A woman, who was not identified, took the video of an American Airlines employee telling her that the toilets were overflowing and asking her to urinate in a bag.
"What do you mean, I have to pee in a bag?" the passenger asked.
"[Inaudible] "They're overflowing," said the flight attendant. "This one has a lot of (space) left."
The passenger told KPNX that there had been an announcement on the flight informing travelers that a sink was overflowing. She added that two other toilets were locked, "so there was no access to them."
The passenger noted that she felt particularly bad for a woman traveling with a toddler who had to use the toilet.
"(The mother) was informed that she had to use a bag," said the passenger. "She opened the toilet door and grimaced on her face … you could say that she was going to have a stomach ache because of the sight and smell."
American Airlines confirmed the event at KPNX, but noted that the toilets were in working order when the plane took off. After inspecting the plane when it landed, the company stated that it found that a diaper had been thrown into one of the toilets, causing the problem.
American Airlines added that it would affect the 187 passengers on the flight. (The passenger confirmed that the airline had offered $ 240 in vouchers and 17,500 miles, but had denied it because it did not think it was adequate compensation.)
"If a US flight is in flight and all toilets become inoperative, the flight will fly to the nearest airport so that maintenance corrects the situation," the statement said. "Due to the location of the aircraft, the flight continued until its intended destination."
