Harold and Tina Ehrenberg of Mandeville won the winning prize two weeks before it expired, Times-Picayune reported. Prizes for lottery type games must be claimed within 180 days of the draw in which the prize was won, the newspaper reported.

"We have family coming to town for Thanksgiving, so I was cleaning the house and I found some lottery tickets on my nightstand that we had not checked," said Tina Ehrenberg at seat of the lottery on November 19th.

The winning ticket was purchased in Metairie, WDSU reported.

After realizing that they had a winning ticket, the Ehrenbergs panicked, believing they missed the deadline to get it back.

"I kept waiting for something to go wrong," said Harold Ehrenberg at WDSU.

The Ehrenberg received US $ 1,274,313 after federal and federal tax withholding, lottery officials said.

"We do not intend to buy anything crazy or make great trips," said Tina Ehrenberg at the lottery headquarters.

"The most fun will be to deposit this check," said Harold Ehrenberg.
