The man accused of stabbing a jogger in Washington, DC, was an "assiduous user" of the synthetic K2 drug and could have been high during the attack, according to a report.

Anthony Crawford, 23, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly stabbing Wendy Martinez several times while jogging in the Logan Circle neighborhood on Tuesday night. Police said Crawford's "very distinct" mustard-colored shirt helped him identify him quickly and led to his arrest.

One witness told the police that Crawford, accused of first-degree murder, was a "frequent user of synthetic narcotic K2," court documents obtained by WTOP said. The witness had known Crawford for four years and saw the suspect wearing the mustard shirt earlier in the day before the knife attack.

"Yes, it's him who's walking and he's probably high," the witness told the police, adding that Crawford was known to "Fatz Gleezy".

Two other witnesses also made statements about Crawford. A witness, identified as a close relative, stated that Crawford wore the mustard-colored shirt that belonged to the witness. The person also recalled seeing bandages on Crawford's hand later on Tuesday.

The authorities found Crawford just after 8 pm Wednesday, in a park, we have often seen, reports WTOP. Crawford's right hand had bandages, as described by the witness. According to the court documents, he was taken to the homicide section shouting and crying.

"The detectives never mentioned the circumstances of the homicide for which the accused was charged. The accused, however, stated that the detectives accused him of stabbing a person during the homicide and, in particular, of a "little girl", said police officer Alexander Vogel.

"It should be noted that the deceased was a small woman, settling for 5" and weighing only 106 pounds, "the report adds.

Martinez was stabbed seven times, including around the neck and head, around 8 pm Tuesday before falling into a takeaway restaurant nearby, where the video surveillance showed the woman who seemed to alert customers amazed at the location of her attacker.

Martinez was later declared dead in a hospital.

"The video surveillance was really key to closing this case," police chief Peter Newsham said Thursday.

The detectives said the attack was random and that Martinez did not know Crawford. The incident was not an attempted robbery and the motive remains uncertain, the police added.

The 35-year-old woman is engaged to her fiance Daniel Hincapie just a week before her death, reported FOX5DC.

"She was a happy person, especially the last seven days of her life after receiving this engagement ring," said Martinez's mother, Cora Martinez, during a vigil. "Be brave, my daughter is beaten until the last breath.

Cora Martinez said to have forgiven the murderer of her daughter.

"I mean, I forgave," said the mother in mourning. "My heart has been broken into a thousand pieces, but I forgive the man because I know it is not him. It was someone else. It was bad
