A New Jersey man died after being hit by a wave while he was swimming in the ocean off a beach in Seaside Heights, in Ocean County on Saturday.
The 44-year-old New Brunswick man was visiting the beach on Fremont Avenue with his wife and young son. While the man was in the water, he was hit by a wave, said a witness.
The police were called to the beach around 7:15 pm When they arrived, they found the man face down in the water about 30 meters from the shore.
Three agents entered the water and observed a strong torn stream. The rescue units found the man and removed it. The doctors then performed CPR but the man was declared dead at the scene.
Officials have not yet unveiled the identity of the man.
Police Chief Tommy Boyd told the Asbury Park press that the wave may have broken the man 's neck and rendered him unfit. Officials said that rescuers were not in use at the time.
