A man fires a tree and throws stones to avoid arrest at the border

YUMA, Arizona – A man tried to avoid an arrest by climbing a tree, igniting it and throwing stones at Yuma patrol agents and a US Customs and Border Protection pilot. from the port of Andrade Friday.

Yuma Area Border Services officers discovered footprints east of Andrade's port on Friday around 5:45 pm, and suspected that someone had crossed illegally the border. Agents asked for help from CBP Air and a marine helicopter.

Officers followed footsteps for almost a mile before locating the suspect man near a tree. The man then climbed the tree, set it on fire and started throwing stones at the agents and the helicopter. The agents and the helicopter were not affected.

The man came down from the tree and was arrested. The Winter Haven Fire Department reacted and extinguished the fire.

The officers determined that this man was a 31-year-old Honduran who had illegally entered the United States. The man had told them that he had been part of one of the migrant caravans.

After being transported to the Yuma Central Treatment Center, they discovered that the man had already been arrested several times in Florida and had already been expelled from the United States in June 2018.

It is presented for prosecution and removal.
