A New Hampshire man was arrested Sunday after allegedly "buying" a girl and attempting to kidnap her from Massachusetts family, police said.
Alfred Patterson, 20, of Raymond, approached a 13-year-old girl near Faneuil Hall in Boston just before 5 pm, the Boston police department said in a press release.
Patterson offered money to teenage parents to "buy" their daughter, before he would have "caught" the girl by the arm and tried to drag her away.
Police said the girl's father had intervened and Patterson had fled the scene. He was quickly located by the police.
Patterson initially gave the police a false identification, according to the press release, but officials were later informed of his true identity.
Patterson was charged with seducing a child under the age of 16, attempting to kidnap a child and giving the police a false name.
