A man suspected by police of killing a woman a few hours after his release from an Arizona prison was arrested Friday in a hotel, authorities said Saturday.
The suspect, identified as 34-year-old David Bohart, was released Monday in Tucson State Prison after spending three years in the service of possession or use of dangerous drugs, according to the website. Arizona Department of Corrections.
An arrest warrant was issued against him after failing to register at a court-ordered addiction treatment center.
On Wednesday, Tucson police found the body of 49-year-old Marika L. Jones, stabbed at home, along with a log of prison records relating to Bohart, the Republic of Korea reported. # 39; Arizona.
It was not clear at first what connection Bohart had with Jones or what led to his death. He was charged with second degree murder in Pima County Prison, according to the report.
In a statement, police said Jones' body had been discovered after a man who had introduced himself as a lawyer out of the country had been called to say that one person had been killed in a house. During an on-site investigation, detectives learned that a 911 call had been made Monday by an unidentified man who had claimed that he had just been released from prison and had killed his girlfriend.
Bohart has already spent two sentences in prison for forgery, possession and use of dangerous drugs, the authorities said.
