A man was killed Sunday morning after losing control of his car and crashed into a post in Queens, according to city police. Sources told NY1 that he was flying another pilot at the time.

This happened just before 1am near Review Avenue and Van Dam Street in Maspeth.

Police said that 35-year-old Jesus Montenegro-Posada was driving a 1997 Honda Civic westbound on Review Avenue when he hit the flagpole. He was declared dead on the scene.

It is unclear how fast he was going, but pieces of the car were scattered on the grass near the scene and the post was halved during the impact.

Witnesses captured the last moments of Montenegro-Posada on a dramatic mobile phone video, on which people can be heard shouting: "It moves, call 911!"

The city councilor said illegal shopping has been a problem in the area for years.

"We know how dangerous it is and last night we saw how deadly it was," said Queens City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer. "I'm afraid it will not stop even with this tragic crash unless action is taken."

The friends of Montenegro-Posada refused to speak in front of a camera, but they installed a memorial on the spot, at the moment of their last homage. Some even took off in their cars in his honor.

The friends of Montenegro-Posada said that they were in mourning in private, but one of them told us that he had done a few laps while he was driving the Another car and decided to do another one before it crashes.

The NYPD crash investigation squad is investigating.
