A A man arrested at Buckingham Palace, suspected of possessing a Taser, was released by police.

The 38-year-old visitor – a visitor to London from the Netherlands – was stopped by security personnel at the entrance of palace visitors around 12:45 pm Sunday.

Suspected of possessing a firearm, namely a Taser, he was arrested and placed in police custody in a central London police station.

Scotland Yard confirmed that the man was released without further action on Sunday night, the agents being convinced that his possession of the low-power, keychain device was a mistake on his part and that he posed no threat.

A spokesman said: "Agents remind UK visitors to ensure that all items they carry comply with UK law.

"This includes small knives and Taser-type personal devices, both of which may be considered offensive weapons or in violation of the UK's strict firearms laws."
