HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) –

Police said that a naked man was in "crisis" when he allegedly terrorized Whataburger employees in southwestern Houston and died later after police officers arrested him.

The incident on Thanksgiving night was reported around 7 pm at the restaurant located in the 9500 block of Bissonnet, near the southwestern highway.

According to Houston police, a 40-year-old white man entered the restaurant and started throwing garbage cans and chairs. The man also jumped on the counter, frightening employees to the point that they called 911 and evacuated the restaurant.

The man, however, followed the workers and assaulted a woman, the police said. After he was stopped by other employees, the man made his way to the nearby overpass where the officers tried to detain the erratic person.

The officers managed to catch the man in handcuffs, but he later collapsed and did not react. The man was taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The employees were shaken but no one was seriously injured.

The police were looking for what could have caused the erratic behavior of the man and his subsequent death.
