The investigators in the case released the 911 call Wednesday and posted vehicle photos gleaned from the surveillance video.
The emergency call was initiated by a neighbor after one parent ran for help, authorities said.
A Spanish-speaking man and woman told the 911 operator that the driver of the green Ford Expedition had turned on the SUV engine to get the kids to school. A man then stole the SUV with a child inside, the callers said, according to a translator.
The FBI, which is investigating the case with the Lumberton Police Department, had a slightly different description of events after talking to people in the mobile home park.
"A witness saw a black subject dressed in black and wearing a yellow bandana in the vehicle of a family member parked in the driveway," the FBI said.
The witnesses were unable to say in which direction the suspect was heading.
The vehicle was filmed a few minutes after taking the girl.
Lumberton Police and the FBI are asking residents in the region with video surveillance systems to save the footage, even if they do not see the vehicle in the sequence, and to contact them.
The SUV is a 2002/2003 expedition with the South Carolina NWS-984 registration plate, the Lumberton Police announced. The paint on the SUV hood is peeling off, and a Clemson University sticker is affixed to the rear window.
Authorities said Wednesday afternoon that they had no reason to believe that Hania knew her kidnapper and that the girl's family cooperated with the investigation.
The FBI is offering a $ 15,000 reward for information that leads to the girl.
Lumberton is located in southeastern North Carolina, near Interstate 95, approximately 95 km from Raleigh.
