A mother accused of manslaughter after the death of a 1 year old child in a hot car

The mother of a 1-year-old child, found dead after being left in a car in heat all day, was charged with negligent manslaughter, Florida authorities said Saturday.

Kailyn Pollard, 29, was arrested Friday afternoon after the Seminole County police announced that she was investigating the child's death. She made her first court appearance on Saturday.

Pollard's daughter was found at a Wawa gas station in Sanford, Florida at about 4:40 pm Friday, the Sheriff County Sheriff's Department said.

According to an arrest report obtained by Orlando ABC affiliate WFTV, Pollard apparently forgot to drop his daughter at the daycare before traveling to work at 8:30 am.

The mother went to Olive Garden to pick up dinner and stopped to pick up gasoline when she realized that her daughter was in the back seat at the restaurant. On the back, according to the arrest report.

The child was already dead when the authorities arrived at the gas station, police said.

Pollard was released from prison with a $ 20,000 bail, according to WFTV, and will return to court on October 23.

The maximum temperature at Sanford Friday was 94 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The child was one of two found dead in a hot car in central Florida on Friday, according to WFTV.

Another child was found in a hot car in Orlando around 2 pm Friday and taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital where he was pronounced dead. No charges have been filed in this case.
