A devastated mother threw out a heartbreaking warning asking people to "stop kissing babies who are not yours" after her daughter died of the herpes labialis at 12 days.
Presley and Elias Trejo, of Fort Worth, Texas, welcomed little girl Emerson Faye on July 26, but she died less than two weeks later after contracting the herpes simplex virus after a few months. one kissed her.
Mum Presley has contacted Facebook to warn others of what can happen when people kiss babies who are not theirs.
The emotional message, which was shared more than 200,000 times, related how baby Emerson Faye died after receiving the "kiss of death", the virus being particularly harmful to babies because of the weakness of their system immune.
She wrote, "Emerson ended up dying of the HSV-1 virus, which is the herpes simplex virus, more commonly known as the cold sore virus, or the kiss of death for infants.
"For adults, it's not a big deal. But for infants with weak or no immune systems, it's fatal. A person who has the virus in his system and kisses an infant can spread quickly.
"You can have the virus without even knowing you have it.You do not need to have an active cold sore to pass it on."
Presley, who is also a mother of two boys, then explained how the disease had slowly attacked her daughter's body.
She continued, "You've eliminated the virus in your saliva and when it comes to the baby, it goes through the body so fast, it attacks the brain first.
"It's like a type of meningitis, it's a liquid that surrounds the vertebrae and goes straight to the brain, and then it gets into all the organs, and it happens so quickly that you do not know it. Not even that the baby is sick.In the case of Emerson, when we got to the hospital, his liver was completely gone.
"Her kidneys were right behind her, everything was failing, she had several seizures, until she died mentally, her heart stopped beating, and the only thing who kept her alive was machines My daughter, my own flesh and blood, which I created from love, was about life and I had to be the only one to unplug her life.
"A mother should never have to bury her child. The virus carried her away at the age of 12 days and we watched her die a very slow death. I have a life without her. "
Presley then issued a stern warning to others and said that she had decided to share her story in order to raise awareness.
She added: "Everyone should be aware of this virus and what it does to children and their families! PEOPLE !!!! STOP LOWER BABIES WHO ARE NOT THE VOWS! !!!! YOU WERE YOUR HANDS WHEN YOU ARE AROUND NEW !!!
"I've seen stories about other infants who were passing this same virus, but you never think it's going to happen to you – well this time it happened." My babies n & # 39; Have no sister and my husband and I have lost our only little girl.
"Doctors do not see this very often, there's not a lot of cases on it, but it's starting to spread more and more, and now it's happened to us here, our beautiful angel in perfect health, happy and beautiful is no longer here with us because of a terrible virus that people need to be more aware of ".
"People need to know about this disease, it's a serious and dangerous disease, do your part, stop kissing babies and start washing your hands, these babies do not deserve it, Emerson did not deserve it.
"As a mother and wife, I did not deserve it, my husband and children did not deserve it, and now we will live a lifetime of" and if "I will never see her going to kindergarten, high school graduate or college, my husband will never walk her in the alley the day of her wedding, I will never see her better mother than me.
"It's not fair! We should never have gone through there. I love Emerson Faye. I will pursue your name and your love until the end of my days." will never forget, I will never stop loving you, fly high, beautiful baby. "
