A photograph of the Ryanair crew sleeping on the airport floor was staged, as showed a sequence of the airline.

The low-cost carrier's staff had published a photo showing them lying on the floor of the airport staff lounge.

The photo went viral, sparking the airline's criticism of social media.

However, Ryanair said the photo was falsified by Malaga airport staff on Saturday night.

CCTV footage broadcast by the airline shows the staff in a dimly lit room that rises from chairs and lies on the hard floor to pose for a photo.

A representative of the crew told the Irish Times: "By posting the video, Ryanair demonstrated that the crews were stuck in a room with only a few chairs. This completely validates our point of origin.

"The crew acted as a protest to demonstrate the conditions under which they had to endure."
