A pilot deploys an emergency parachute while attempting to land at Addison

The pilot of a single – engine aircraft made an emergency landing shortly after taking off from Addison Municipal Airport on Sunday morning.

No injuries have been reported.

Shortly after taking off from Addison at approximately 11:15 am, the Cirrus SR22 pilot reported engine and instrument problems, according to the FAA.

The pilot attempted to return to the airport but declared an emergency. The pilot told the air traffic control that the plane would not be able to return to Addison.

The FAA stated that the pilot deployed the Cirrus emergency parachute and that the aircraft stopped near Alpha Road, about 1.5 km south of the airport.
