A police officer was assaulted and injured in Antioch on Monday night and the suspect barricaded himself in a house, police said.
Police initially reported that the police officer was shot in the head, but later claimed that the suspect had brandished a weapon and assaulted the police officer.
The police confirmed that the officer had suffered a head injury that did not put his life at risk. He was treated in a hospital and released.
The assault was reported to have occurred in the vicinity of Deerfield Drive and Fawn Hill Way, and police reportedly responded massively. Police negotiators were on the scene late Monday night.
The police think that there could be at least one other person inside the house with the suspect. Some nearby residents were evacuated and others were invited to be housed on site, police said.
No other details were available.
