One person was killed and two others injured after a possible tornado struck in Rutherford County, central Tennessee.

A spokesman for the Rutherford County Emergency Medical Service told NBC News that a person had died after the collapse of a house in the Christiana community, about 40 kilometers away. km southeast of Nashville.

The victim was the only person at home at that time.

Two other residents of the city were injured and taken to the hospital after the destruction of their mobile home.

Another person whose residence was damaged refused treatment.

The National Weather Service on Monday warned of severe thunderstorms likely to produce strong winds and tornadoes in the Memphis and Nashville areas, as well as in parts of Alabama and Mississippi. A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

On Tuesday morning, the meteorological service canceled the tornado and ended all warnings, adding that much damage had occurred in many parts of the region.
