Fiona Simpson, 23, was hit by horrible bruises and cuts after hail destroyed her car's windshield near Kingaroy, more than 200 km northwest of Brisbane.
But she managed to protect her little girl from the shock of the storm.
Prime Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said it was an "extraordinary" story and promised to recommend Mrs. Simpson an award for her courage.

"We will recommend it for a prize for bravery," confirmed the prime minister on Sunday.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison also praised Simpson's courage.
"I certainly think she's one of the bravest people I've read lately," Morrison said.
Mrs. Simpson was traveling on Aguilar Road between Kingaroy and Gympie on Thursday afternoon with her grandmother and daughter Clara, when tennis ball-sized hail hit their car.
"I did not realize the danger that hail could do," Simpson told reporters.
"I jumped on the backseat and just covered [Clara] with my body, hoping it's happening, but it has become heavier and heavier. "

She and her grandmother had to spend a night in the hospital and posted conflicting images of her wounds on social media, revealing that her back, shoulders, and arms were completely covered with marks and bruises. .
A hail measuring between 5 and 7 cm fell into the area during the storm, covering the ground with a thickness thick in places.
The Awards for Bravery in Australia are administered by the Prime Minister's Office and the Cabinet and range from the highest honor of the Cross of Valor to a commendation for Brave Conduct.
They are usually announced in two lots each year around April and August.
